Admission & Fees – PhD Program

Admission

You can apply for the joint-degree PhD in Biomedical Sciences if 

  • you are enrolled either at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) or at the University of Freiburg (UFR) for a PhD program paid for the next 3-4 years
  • you have a confirmed PhD Thesis with a doctor supervisor
  • your project has a collaboration with either UBA or UFR

Requirements for the University of Buenos Aires: in English

  • Bachelor (min. 5 year) or Master Degree Certificate and Transcript of Records
    (for graduates from outside FFyB must be legalized at UBA)
  • Passport (copy)
  • CV 
  • Matriculation form UBA (provided when accepted)
  • Preliminary thesis plan in English (max. 10 pages). The title of the plan must be in English AND Spanish.
  • Summary CV of your director and supervisor (5 up to max. 10 pages).

Requirements for the University of Freiburg:

  • Master Degree Certificate or Bachelor (if min. 5 year) Degree Certificate and Transcript of Records.
    Note that UFR accepts only documents in German, English and French (Spanish or other language documents must be translated).
  • Passport and a student visa/ residence permit
  • Health insurance certificate with coverage in Germany
  • Exmatriculation certificate (Only for graduate students from Germany)
  • Letter of acceptance in the joint-degree PhD programm issued by either the “Promotionsausschuss” or the “Prüfungsamt” of the faculty where the PhD fellow performs his/her thesis (Biology, Medicine or Engineering). In order to receive this letter, various registration forms, depending on the faculty, need to be filled out and submitted online. (UFR will assist you).
  • Immatriculation document of the University and document of payment of the immatriculation/enrolment fees per semester.
    PhD fellows from UFR (as a home university) pay the fees themselves because they will profit from reduced costs for housing, meals and public transport throughout their thesis.
    The immatriculation fees for the PhD fellows who visit UFR from UBA for 6 months will be covered by the program

Fees

Admission fees at the University of Freiburg (UFR):

110€ admission fee / per semester if the hosting University is the University of Buenos Aires (UBA)
180€ admission fee / per semester if the hosting University is UFR
